The Session is the council for the congregation. It consists of elders who have been elected to serve for three-year terms. The Session oversees six ministry teams. The role of the session is to guide the congregation so it will be a community of faith, hope, love, and witness. First Presbyterian Church Garner has established teams to carry out that charge.

Staff of church, accountable for daily business operations
Buildings & Grounds
Hiring, managing, and accounting for upkeep and maintenance of perimeter of land and buildings
Faith Formation
Conversation with Children schedule, children and youth ministries, adult education opportunities, vacation Bible school, confirmation class, and Sunday schools
Finance & Stewardship
Monitoring and managing church finances, expenses, tithes, and missions giving
Missions Team
Special offerings, mission trips, local mission opportunities, Christmas Shoe Box, Christmas Angel Tree, HOPE lunch, Garner Area Ministries including the Food Pantry, and international missions
Worship Team
Liturgist schedule and training, communion schedule and setup, nursery schedule, special worship services, choirs, usher schedule, sound system schedule, maintenance of piano and bells, ordering special worship bulletins and other supplies, acolytes, banners, and cross cloth.
