Get to know about First Presbyterian Church of Garner
We strive to honor the first and second “greatest commandments”, and express our love for our Creator and Savior by…
- Providing meaningful experiences of worship,
- Expressing our beliefs through Christ-centered ministries,
- Serving as generous stewards of our blessings,
- Sharing our faith, and
- Using our gifts to care for others.
Our love of God leads us to nurture one another, the community, and the world through prayer, visits, mission trips, and personal support. Our congregation is a vital, friendly, mission-focused community of faith that offers ministries and activities for young and old. We are a church for people of all ages and for every stage of faith. We welcome new faces and the challenges of new ideas. We’re delighted that you’re visiting our website. We invite you to join with us for worship and fellowship.
Our doors open first thing for Sunday school, but we are open to the public from Sunday through Friday. After Sunday school and Worship, we have church business functions and scheduled events. Please be sure to check our calendar or call the office at (919) 772-0727.
Time & Location
We offer Sunday school at 9:45 am and worship in the Sanctuary at 11 am.
We are a congregation of the Presbyterian Church (USA) and a member of the New Hope Presbytery. Steeped in the Reformed Tradition, we affirm a “priesthood of all believers” and see ourselves as one part of a larger universal church which includes all those who acknowledge the one Triune God, profess faith in Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior, and trust the redeeming power of the Holy Spirit. If you’d like to know more about the PC(USA)’s history and beliefs, additional information can be found here.
At FPCOG we describe serving God as “living the good news”—a way of life that seeks to share the joy of Christ’s presence, grace, and love that is for all people and which makes us whole.
A men’s and women’s restroom can be found in 3 locations in our building: 1) In the hallway by the church office (these are also the ones nearest the sanctuary) 2) In the breezeway near the Fellowship Hall 3) near the stairwell that connects the upper and lower level.
We strive to create a space where all can find refuge and be nurtured in Christ’s love. To assist in that end, the church does have a Safe Sanctuary/Child protection policy, and has a regularly checked AED machine and first aid kits available in case of medical emergency. Security cameras are also installed throughout the building. The church is also in process of developing new safety policies that seek to balance a desire to welcome newcomers but also secure our building when worship services and other activities are taking place.
We are in process of resuming various offerings for children and youth as we continue to meet again after a period of inactivity during the pandemic. Sunday School is our current primary offering and we also direct youth and children to our partner organizations of Boy Scouts, Girl Scouts, and Community Navigators/Community Builders. Please contact the pastor for additional information or questions.
Our church offers many off-campus small groups, on-campus Sunday school, and other groups during the week. Please come to our church office to gather information.
We love to hear from guests and fellow members on our social media channels. Be sure to follow us on Facebook and Instagram. Also, subscribe to our newsletter, The Spire, for the latest news, events, and blogs from our pastor and staff

For children under the age the of 8 participate in children’s church during service, but are taken down by announcement during service. Infants and toddlers can go to nursery.
For giving or tithing, since COVID, we have had to revise our procedure. We offer our online portal on the website at the top in the navigation called ‘Giving’. Then, we have a bowl presently in Sanctuary at the entrance for giving to leave your tithing.
Prayer, reading scripture, singing, and worshiping are many vital components to worship service.
