In March, the season of Lent unfolds and nearly reaches its culmination! In worship each Sunday, we will explore ideas that seem to be on opposite ends of the spectrum, but when viewed through the life and teachings of Jesus, we learn how they are connected. And we will learn how Jesus himself stands in the midst of extremes like: faith & works; rest & growth; lost & found; righteousness & mercy; shouting & silence. Join us and invite your family and neighbors to walk this Lenten Journey together.

Lenten Prayer Walk: During the 2026 Lenten Season, our Walking Goal is a little different. Rather than focusing on a destination, we invite each person to pay more attention to the journey. As you are able, between February 18 (Ash Wednesday) and April 5 (Easter Sunday), consider taking a daily or weekly walk that includes prayer for yourself, your family, your friends, our church, our community, and/or our world.
Lenten Book Club: Each Tuesday night at 7 pm from March 3rd until March 31st, participants will hop on Zoom to discuss the book Turning Over Tables by Kathy Escobar. The book explores how Jesus’ actions—turning over the tables of the money changers and uplifting the poor and suffering—disrupt the plans of the powerful in his time and place. How do we understand these actions of Jesus here and now? We hope participants will include FPCoG folks as well as friends from Lord of Life Lutheran! It’s not too late!!! Contact Rev. Acton if you would like to participate and for information on ordering the book.
Family Promise: FPCoG is the host church during Holy Week, March 30 – April 3.
Monetary Donations – The Missions Committee purchases groceries for the families’ breakfast and lunch, and household needs, as well as gift cards for groceries and gas for each family. Please consider making a donation to FPCoG (Family Promise Fund) to cover the cost of groceries and gift cards. If you have questions, please contact Lisa Jackson or Sibyl Pedziwiatr.
Easter Basket Supplies – Everyone can participate by donating items for Easter baskets (Easter grass, candy individually wrapped, small toys/stuffed animals). Wish list handouts and a drop-off bin are in the narthex and downstairs breezeway. Deadline is March 25.
Meals – Five different church groups will provide the evening meal.
Garner Area Ministries: Suggested “Item of the Month” is canned pasta (ravioli, beefaroni, spaghetti & meatballs). The following items are often in short supply at the GAM Food Pantry: Cereal, Peanut Butter, Grape or Strawberry Jam, Boxed Pasta, Canned Pasta, Boxed Macaroni & Cheese, Tomato Sauce, Diced Tomatoes, Canned Corn/Peas/Green Beans, Tomato/Chicken Noodle Soup, Saltines, Pork & Beans, Non-perishable meat products (beef stew, tuna, chicken, Vienna sausage), Canned Beans, Instant Mashed Potatoes, Rice/Rice Mixes, Canned Meat/Fish, Hamburger Helper, Canned Fruit, Bottled Water, Toilet Paper.
